In the begining there was smack.....

Alright, here it is. Chad has had the opportunity to rub salt in my deerless wounds for almost a year now. So when I got wind that Miller was starting a blog that got me to thinking that we should have a blog that we could you know give each other a hard time and communicate for the upcoming annual Thanksgiving day hunt. Although this will be the first hunt that I have missed in what three years, it seems to get better every year and honestly am disappointed that I wont be there this year! So, with the gauntlet thrown down by Chad. I here by open the thanksgiving smack down to begin.

He's still smacking huh? One dead deer does not a hunter make! Shot with a borrowed rifle sighted in by Paul the season before. So I guess Paul could claim this deer on his tag. We must excuse the doe she was a little confused with the scent of a Texas city slicker on the air which also smelled of pizza and pasta and not knowing any better went to investigate the gasping bump on the log. Never trust a chef he will eat you every time. Shawn

Ok, Shawn Mc... you need to give the guys the login name & password because they can't comment unless it's on here. That way, when you see the main screen, you see all of the postings...

Alright after much pain on Hilary’s part I have now provided her with the needed information so you all can lay the smack down. Grandpa, sitting at the kitchen table yesterday commented that he would like to get in on the smack as well. So, I am still waiting for Chad to comment on the rigors of hunting in a brown barn jacket and sweat pants! You only have a couple of months left before it is reset and then it will be a “remember when I got a deer and y’all didn’t?” I am betting it won’t happen this year. Josh has let me know that he has started to see some deer moving but has yet to see a buck. No worries! I should be up to Millers place to help set up some stands at the end of August. I really am looking forward to Alaska and doing some great fishing up there! I have been on a roll lately with the whole fishing thing. I went to the coast about a month ago and caught about 15 trout! Not bad for a guy who can’t catch much of anything. Anyway, I am looking forward to hearing what you all have to say.

I wonder how much it costs to mount a pool filter. I guess it was comin right at ya huh Mac?

Terrorist style face mask - $1
Blue Pants - $5
Brown barn jacket - $40
Borrowed lever action 308- $0
Killing a deer, knowing your brother spent close to a thousand dollars on camo and gun - Priceless

I have to admit that was some pretty funny stuff from Chad. Brett there needs to be some sort of a rebuttal there….So, I am guessing there should be straws drawn for the now infamous tree stand. I don’t think that the stand in question has a nick name or even a reference name right now. That shall be remedied right now. We will now refer to said tree stand as “sure thing”! So, now that the name issue has been settled, instead of the drawing of straws for the sure thing, I submit that we have a wrestle off! Camo vs. Brown Barn Jacket! I think that would be only fair for those that wish to pursue their hunt from that stand. What do you all think? I would pay money by the way to see such an event…!!!

All I know is that my 12 year old granddaughter has shot more deer than some of you! LOL

Ok, this is Hilary now. I have it all set up now. I need to go and create an account for Josh now. Chad I didn't know you had a blogger account. If you would rather use that one instead of the one I created for you, let me know so I can add it to the authors' list.

I have bulldozed off around the Hotel this last week and burned most of the brush piles. I have checked 2 deer stands straps and they are good so far. I have put up 2 corn feeders thus far on the back 80 acres, I hope the deer appreciate the cost of corn this year and give us a few sacrificial shots at them. I would like to throw some carbon at them first and maybe lead later! I also put up 2 deer cameras over the corn feeders. I want to go digital soon, the price is coming down. I have found a new spot for a deer stand, we will see how it works out. Where is all the smack? I figured the lawyer who is a talker and bull s?.**er would be the first one to post his smack here. I guess a $1000 dollars isn't enough to get the deer to walk out and lay down for ya. The deer want you to hunt them , they want you to suffer a little, swat the bugs and freeze your balls off before they give you a shot!!

I need to apologize to Brett. As my older brother he has taught me everything I know. When it comes to hunting, how can I be better than the master? Brett has always been an inspiration to me. Someday I hope I am worthy to lick the soles of his feet. After one year I have to admit that Brett actually shot the deer and stood by and gave me credit. He put the needs of me above his own. I'm sorry for deceiving you for the year. Please forgive my own selfishness.

Wow....what do you say to a confession like that? I mean what selflessness! What a great and noble act done on the part of one brother for the other. Brett you are the man! One for this noble act; the other for being able to keep a secret like that for such a long. I must have caused great anxiety knowing that your younger brother was taking such great credit for your act of kindness. This is the part where I have to stop to put my chest waders on cause it is getting deep now! Wow! I have to say that was a creative rebuttal to the smack laid down by the big man himself! However, you will have a chance this year to not miss the buck you did last year! I know I am walking a fine line here with my own misses yes that would be plural! However this year is the year of redemption!!!
